Yesterday was a beautiful day in comparison to the days of rain we have been experiencing. More than 40 embassies in DC opened their doors to visitors allowing us to experience their music, food, art, dance, and fashion. Attendance was free but only between the hours of 10am and 4pm so lines were very long. I myself was able to visit Argentina, Botswana, Uganda, Panama, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Belize, Brazil, Sri Lanka, and South Africa and had a blast. I think the free rum punch in Haiti and the panty ripper (hate that name) that I bought in Belize had something to do with my high. The European embassies hold their own open house next week, but I will be working and unable to attend. Definitely next year I’ll try and check them out.
Argentina did a superb job, now I want to visit! |
Brazil had a display of Olympic flames including a replica of this year’s torch |
