A weekend off is an opportunity to pamper my hair. My usual hair ritual is to wash each week and re-twist. In the summer time, I wash frequently and wear my hair out more often.
The best part of the process is making my hair-care concoctions. Natural honey, extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, whole fat yogurt, ripe avocados, very ripe bananas, and coconut milk are all kitchen ingredients that have found themselves on my hair in some combination and usually mixed with a very cheap conditioner like Suave or VO5 for the scent.
I rarely use shampoo. I still use a huge bottle of Redken AllSoft that I bought in 2003. Although it’s a moisturizing shampoo it’s not worth the cost. Has it expired? I don’t know, it still makes suds. More often I use diluted Dr. Bronner’s Castille Soap in Peppermint scent, love the tingle!
Once in a while I henna. But not often enough for any colouring effect although I have achieved a shimmer of maroon when the sun shines. That needs more pampering time. Maybe this will the the year?
