I have seen the Dolfin chocolate bars in multiple chocolate specialty stores but it wasn’t until I visited Boston Cheese Cellar store that I picked one up at the recommendation of the owner/worker for “a good milk chocolate bar”.
This one was for me. I found the chocolate to be nicely wrapped in a cute yet handsome sturdy plastic envelope. I was more enamoured with the packaging itself as I have never seen chocolate wrapped like that. It was such a pleasure to open, and open, and open.
I ended up eating the entire bar in one sitting. The bar smells like milk chocolate with a hint of spices. Masala to be exact. I think this mix of cloves, cardamon, ginger, black pepper, and cinnamon was responsible for the immediate yearning I had for a cup of hot milk to wash down the chocolate…and I don’t even drink milk.
I did not think that these spices overwhelmed the chocolate but my co-workers (see, I did make an attempt to share it) felt otherwise. I would definitely purchase another of this and am intrigued enough to try the other 19 flavours made by Dolfin, a Belge chocolatier that prides itself in having mastered the art of blending (mixing ingredients directly into the chocolate mass).
