I picked this bar up in Roslindale at the recommendation of the worker/owner of Boston Cheese Cellar for “a good dark chocolate to gift someone”.
Laughing Moon Chocolates is based in Stowe, Vermont. It prides itself in using as many local products as possible (obviously not the cocoa). Their website states they have daily demonstrations and opportunities to participate in chocolate-making workshops. Hmmm, seems like I need to find my way to Vermont one of these days.
I did gift this chocolate…to a co-worker. So I was able to sample it myself. Seeing how I’m a milk chocolate aficionado I actually enjoyed this bar of chocolate. It was dark but not bitter. The sea salt crystals were quite visible on the bar lending themselves immediately to the taste-buds. But the salt did not overwhelm the chocolate and at the end there was a nuance of freshly cracked black pepper. Not bad!
