Braved the cold last month to go to Echostage to enjoy “the greatest DJ of All Time“, Tiësto, perform. He’s legendary. It was a crowd a bit younger than myself, I will admit, and given my chronic fatigue these days from a too busy workweek, it was a crowd with more energy than I could ever dream of. Fierce. Flashing glowsticks.
Tiësto is a legend. The music was thunderous yet feel good, but at some point I had to bow out. No way was I going to last until the brink of dawn. When I left, the venue was still packed to the brim, the crowd still amped, the lights still threatening to induce seizures.
I had never been to Echostage before. It’s the largest “nightclub” in DC boasting over 30,000 square feet. It’s a very large open space like a gymnasium, only slightly fancier. Upstairs, where I stationed myself so as not to get lost in the crowds, one can get table service. The sound system is supposed to be the tops, but I felt like it could be better. I felt there was something off about the acoustics…because certainly it wasn’t due to lack of skills on the part of Tiësto himself. Echostage feels like it’s on the outskirts of DC. We drove and didn’t have a problem finding a place to park. And since we left before the concert was over, we had no trouble leaving either.
